RaceDeck Garage Accessories In Stock Now A few caveats to most garage floor tile systems1) The tiles are usually constructed of Polypropylene or a polymer substance that may expand and contract with temperature variations. Be sure to leave a ¼ to ½” expansion gap around the edges. Heavy work benches or tool boxes may prevent the expansion in extreme weather and the floor may buckle even with and expansion gap. Dark colors in direct sunlight are more susceptible.2) In salty environments, I have found rust may permanently stain the surface. 3) Oil spills can be very slippery. 4) Water beneath the tile can create mold or mildew.
How do you clean garage floor tile?I usually blow out my garage with a leaf blower and then use a mild detergent and damp mop. This method cleans fairly well for most minor dirt and dust. My extreme cleaning method involves an aggressive degreaser and a stiff brooming and then hosing or power washing the garage tile surface (Please note: the extreme method may seep moisture below the tile thus creating mildew, mold, or worse.)
