Garage Refrigerator
Nothing beats a well-stocked garage refrigerator. Having convenient access to a cold frosty beverage on a hot summer day makes tweaking on the hotrod even more enjoyable. Not to mention, the garage refrigerator is real handy when the wife embarks on a mega grocery-shopping trip. I currently have two refrigerators running in my garage. That’s a picture of my antique Borg Warner Customatic. Your garage may also be a great place to accommodate a spare refrigerator or freezer.Check manufacturers warranty. Manufacturer may specify min/max air temperature. Due to temperature fluctuations experienced in the garage, many people are reluctant to put a refrigerator in the garage. I grew up in Michigan where many of our friends and relatives had garage refrigerators. My grandpa even had one in the boathouse. Short of the occasional frozen soda in the dead of winter, the old fridges had no problem. The past 20 years I spent baking in the hot Arizona sun. Our old garage refrigerators just keep on running! My experience with garage refrigerators show they can be dependable in most climate. Although it is true a garage refrigerator has to work harder to maintain proper temperature, our electric bill is only $5-$10 dollars different when I unplug the old Borg Warner during the extreme heat of a Phoenix summer (your milage may vary). The additional electric cost is a small price to pay for the convenience I receive. Now I do not endorse storing perishables with short shelf life or items that easily spoil in an Arizona garage refrigerator. You may wish to keep eggs, milk, mayo, lettuce and other such items in the kitchen fridge. Also, in cold climates during the winter, you may need to remove items that may freeze and explode (bottled sodas).
