Overhead Garage Storage Solution

Here's a clever overhead garage storage solution I came up with to store my kids train set up out of the way when not in use. I took a and simply removed the bottom rack and replaced it with a 4 x 8 foot sheet of 1/2 plywood. I had an old banquet table that was falling apart, so I removed the legs and screwed them to the bottom of the plywood. This provided the legs to support the table when lowered that could be folded up out of the way when raised. Adding 4 eye bolts provided suport lifting points to attach the Racor Pro HeavyLift cables to.

Now I have a large table that can be easily lifed to the ceiling when not in use. The Racor Pro Heavylift comes with a long crank handle to reach up to the crank mechanism on standard 8 - 10 foot high garage ceilings. If your ceiling are higher, the Pro Heavylift will not work for you.

You could use this overhead storage solution for storing race tacks, large puzzles, craft table, or seasonal items convieni=ently out of the way.

Note: Rotate the mount 90 degrees from what is shown in these pictures so that handle cranks from the side of the table. As pictured - the length of the table may interfere with the crank shaft when raising.
